The Catholic Church promotes openness in our union as married couples to new life as part of God's plan. Natural family planning allows a couple to learn to appreciate a woman's fertility instead of suppressing it to avoid pregnancy. Using the Creighton Model of Natural Family Planning, the couple learns how to identify the time of fertility during each cycle and then can use that knowledge and decide whether they want to achieve or avoid a pregnancy at that time, requiring a level of communication a marriage may otherwise lack. If wanting to avoid pregnancy, a couple learns a new level of self-control and learns to communicate their love in other ways. The foundation this builds is God's plan for marriage and the extremely low divorce rate among couples who use a system of natural planning is proof.
The Creighton Model not only teaches a couple to track their fertility cycles, but also numerous health problems can be identified from the information that women chart. These include infertility, recurring miscarriage, endometriosis, PMS, and hormonal imbalances. It is also a highly adaptable system to many situations - whether women have irregular cycles, are breastfeeding, are premenopausal, or are trying to achieve pregnancy. A woman or couple works individually with a teacher as they learn to chart and use the system based on their situation.
Single women: this is an amazing opportunity to learn how to chart your cycles, become a partner and participant in your reproductive health, and learn a system that you can use the rest of your reproductive life.
Engaged couples: this is a beautiful way to continue to help your bond as a couple develop - and you will have something to talk about besides wedding details!
Married couples: no matter where you are with your growing family, this is a chance for you to connect in a new way and help your relationship grow.
