Steve Lemons and his wife Marilyn have been members of Holy Trinity Parish since 1985. He grew up in Trenton, Illinois, the oldest of 4 children. He lost his father due to an accident in 1966. He has 3 younger sisters, and his mother still lives near St. Louis on her own.
He is a graduate of Wesclin High School and received his associate degree from Kaskaskia Community College and his bachelor of science with certificate in teaching from McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois.
Steve and Marilyn were married in 1979 and raised two daughters, Emily and Beth. Steve joined the Catholic Church in 1994 after completing the RCIA program at Holy Trinity. He worked for 30 years in the insurance industry in claims management and then as a human resources manager. In 2008, he became Director of Administrative Services at Good Shepherd Parish in Shawnee and retired from there in 2020.
Steve also has a background as a volunteer firefighter & EMT, and served on the Lenexa City Council from 2009 to 2019. He's currently a volunteer with the City of Lenexa Police Department and acts as their civilian chaplain.
He was ordained a permanate deacon with the Archidiocese of Kansas City in Kansas in 2017 and since 2019 he and Marilyn have served as members of the Archdiocesan permanate deaconant formation team. They volunteer with Catholic Charities to distribute food to families in need in rural parishes.
In his role at Holy Trinity, Steve assists as Mass as well as with baptisms and marriage ceremonies without Mass. He and Marilyn are coordinators for the Marriage Ministry in the Parish.
Steve says he appreciates that as long-time members of Holy Trinity, the parish has truly become his family's home. He is grateful that he and Marilyn have developed many strong friendships within their Holy Trinity family.
