Helena Vaconcellos came to Holy Trinity after serving as Liturgical Music Director at Nativity of Mary Parish in Independence. She is a native Brazilian, and has earned her Master's Degree in Choral Conducting and Ph.D in Music Education (choral) both from UMKC. She earned her undergraduate degree in Piano Performance from the University of Brazil in Rio de Janiero.
In addition to her conducting responsibilities with the Bell Choir here at Holy Trinity, Helena conducts the Jackson County Community Chorale and the Harmony Project KC, an intensive music education program for deserving children in Northeast Kansas City. She also maintains a private piano studio.
Helena is married and lives in Kansas City, Missouri with her supportive husband. She still has many family members living in Brazil, and travels there to visit when she can. She enjoys working with the Bells of Joy ensemble as they grow spiritually and musically.
