Responsible for nearly 300 children and 40 staff members at Holy Trinity's Early Education Center, Mary Kay Scanlon keeps busy! Her duties include managing staffing, program development, license compliance, and the overall operation of the program. She has been in this role since 1982.
Mary Kay was one of 8 children and grew up on a farm outside of Marysville, Kansas. She attended Hutchinson Community College for two years, and then received her degree in Behavioral Studies/Early Childhood Education from the University of Kansas.
Mary Kay is married and has 2 children and is a member of Good Shepherd Parish. She assists Holy Trinity with the VIRTUS training program. In her free time, Mary Kay has a booth at an antique store in Ottawa, KS, so she hunts for "finds" at area estate and garage sales. She likes to bake and is a KU fan as well.
Mary Kay notes that the Holy Trinity community has a supporting faithfulness evident in its "prayer chain" (that is) vibrant and spirit filled . . . from the email updates to the Rosary gatherings that are held at short notice for someone who is ill . . . there is genuine concern - the Holy Spirit is truly at work."
