Inspired by the Creative Curriculum, students at HTEEC are presented with daily play-based activities that align with their strengths, needs, and interests.
Five Pillars of play-based learning
HTEEC believes that young children learn through five core types of play:
Learning Across Content Areas
Lessons based on this framework balance child-initiated and teacher-guided learning across:
- Literacy
- Math
- Science
- Social Studies
- Fine Arts
- Music & Movement
Handwriting Without Tears
HTEEC uses principles of the Handwriting Without Tears program in Pre-K classrooms to help children develop skills necessary for handwriting. It is a hands-on, play-based approach allowing children to develop fine-motor and learning skills at an age-appropriate pace.
